Río Cañas & Río Nimboyores:
Lifelines of the Guanacaste Landscape
The Nimboyores and Río Cañas rivers run through the Guanacaste Air Park in Santa Cruz, offering direct access to vibrant ecosystems. Río Cañas flows from inland hills to the Pacific, supporting diverse wildlife and habitats such as tropical dry forests and wetlands. Its banks are lined with native trees and home to birds, monkeys, and aquatic life. Río Nimboyores, a key tributary, brings spring water from higher elevations, enhancing biodiversity and providing refuge for turtles, otters, and iguanas. Both rivers flourish during the rainy season, attracting migratory species and revitalizing the landscape.
