Reforested Native Sanctuary at Guanacaste Air Park
Nestled within the heart of the Guanacaste province, the reforested zone of Guanacaste Air Park stands as a living tribute to the region’s rich ecological heritage. This area has been carefully restored using native tree species, including the iconic Guanacaste tree (Enterolobium cyclocarpum), after which the province is named. Alongside it, majestic Higuerón (Ficus spp.), durable Cocobolo (Dalbergia retusa), and the rare Rongrong (Albizia saman) thrive—each playing a vital role in restoring biodiversity and creating a natural refuge for local wildlife.
These trees not only represent the natural history of the land but also contribute to climate resilience, soil regeneration, and habitat creation. Visitors to the park can walk shaded trails under these towering canopies, hear the songs of native birds, and experience a part of Costa Rica that has been thoughtfully revived for both ecological balance and human appreciation. The reforested sanctuary is a symbol of GAP’s commitment to conservation and sustainable development.
